How Much Space a 16ft Screen Needs
This is the question that decides whether the 16ft or the 12ft is right for you, and it is worth measuring before you book rather than on delivery day.

Eighteen feet is taller than most single-story rooflines, so look up before you commit to a spot: low branches, power lines, light poles, basketball hoops and covered walkways all rule out an otherwise perfect patch of grass. You want reasonably level ground with clear sky above it.
The projector then sits 18 to 30 feet back from the screen. Add the screen’s own depth and plan on roughly 40 feet of clear run from the front of the screen to the projector table, with seating arranged in front of or beside the beam rather than through it. A school field, a church lawn, a park green or a large community commonly handles this without much thought. An average suburban backyard usually does not, which is what the 12ft screen is for. The screen, projector and sound system need two dedicated circuits, with a standard outlet within 50 feet of the setup area. A building with an exterior outlet on the right side of the lawn is simple. Fields, park greens and parking lots are not, and a missing outlet is the single most common reason a community movie night nearly falls apart the week of the event.
For those venues we rent generators, and for a film the choice between them matters more than it does for a bounce house. A quiet generator 3600 is built for exactly this: a loud engine competes with dialogue for two straight hours, and a crowd of 350 will notice it. Movie Licensing for School, Church and Community Screenings
A screen this size usually means an audience beyond one family, and that changes the paperwork. It is straightforward, it is inexpensive, and it is the thing organizers most often leave until the last week.
A private event at a private residence — a birthday, a family gathering, an invited guest list with no admission charged — can play a film the host owns with no additional license. Once the event is open to the public or hosted by an organization, that changes. School events, church movie nights, HOA and neighborhood screenings, apartment community nights, municipal park programs, business events and fundraising screenings generally require a public performance license.
