Synthetic Ice Rink Questions
Is synthetic ice real ice?
No. It is a solid synthetic surface that you skate on with real skates. It never melts, so it works in any weather. See our portable ice skating rink rental page for the details.
Do guests need special skates?
No. We bring 40 to 50 pairs of real skates in kid and adult sizes.
Does the rink need power or water?
No. A synthetic rink is made of solid panels, so there is no water to freeze and no cooling system to plug in. Our crew will confirm what your site needs when you book.
What kind of space do you need?
A flat, hard surface with about 30 by 50 feet of open room, such as a level parking lot, a tennis court, a gym or a hall. The area should be clear of debris, and someone should be on site to meet our crew.
Can we skate in summer or on a warm day?
Yes. The surface does not need cold temperatures, so the rink works at summer events as well as winter ones.
Is it good for beginners?
Yes. The glide is a bit slower than frozen ice, which most families find easier for first-time skaters.
How many people can skate at once?
About 30 to 40 skaters at a time on our 24 by 48 foot rink.
Can the rink go indoors?
Yes. It works in gyms and halls as well as outdoors on a flat, hard surface.
