A gobo is a precision-cut disc that sits inside a focused light and projects a shape onto a surface. In a wedding context that shape is usually a monogram: two initials, a surname, a wedding date, or a crest. It can equally be a corporate logo, an event name, or a repeating pattern like snowflakes, stars, or foliage washed across a wall or ceiling. The projector mounts on a stand or a truss point, the image is focused to the exact size of your dance floor or feature wall, and it holds all night without heat, haze, or noise. It is the single highest-impact lighting decision per dollar at most receptions, which is why it photographs in nearly every reception gallery you have been shown.
How the Monogram Design Process Works
Four steps, and only one of them needs anything from you.
1. Choose a stock pattern or start a custom design
Pick from our library of monogram frames and patterns, or send us your initials, date, wording, or logo file and we will build it from scratch. Custom is the same $300 as stock, so there is no reason to settle.
2. Approve a digital proof
You see the exact artwork before anything is cut, rendered the way it will appear on your floor. Revisions are included. Nothing goes to production until you sign off.
3. We cut the gobo and reserve the projector
Standard turnaround is about two weeks from proof approval. Book earlier for peak Saturdays in May, June, September, and October, which are the first dates to fill in Virginia’s wedding calendar.
4. We install, focus, and strike it
Our crew coordinates the delivery window with your venue or planner, mounts and aims the light, focuses the image to your floor, and returns to remove it. If you have also booked bistro string lights or a light post, it all goes in on the same visit.

Pattern gobos wash a tent ceiling or an exterior wall in texture rather than a single monogram. If you are renting a tent with tables and chairs from us, we can plan the projection points during the tent layout instead of improvising on the day.

Mail-order DIY kits run cheaper, and they should — with those, you assemble a 10-foot stand at your own reception, run an extension cable across the venue floor, aim and focus the light yourself, and ship it back the following week. Our price is the difference between a box arriving and a crew handling it. For events with several rentals in play, add an on-site event manager and the whole footprint is supervised for the night.

How much does monogram lighting cost?
$300 flat for the full event, including custom design, the gobo, the projector, installation, and strike. There is no hourly rate and no charge for additional hours. DIY mail-order kits typically run $110 to $170, but you install, focus, and return those yourself.
How far in advance should I book?
Allow about two weeks from proof approval for a custom gobo, so four to six weeks before your date is comfortable. Peak Saturdays in May, June, September, and October book earliest. If your date is closer than that, ask us — stock patterns move faster than custom cuts.
Can I use my company logo instead of a monogram?
Yes. Send a vector file if you have one and we will cut it. Logos with very fine detail or multiple colors may need simplifying, since a gobo projects a single-color image. We will show you exactly how it will look on the proof before anything is produced.
What if my venue does not allow projectors?
Some historic and hotel venues restrict mounting points or ceiling access. Tell us the venue when you inquire and we will check before you book, not after. In most rooms a floor stand placement works where a truss mount is not permitted.
Do I keep the gobo afterward?
