Party planning checklist
Tips for a Successful Bounce House Party: Planning, Setup, and Entertainment Ideas
A little planning goes a long way toward a smooth, safe event. Use these tips to get the most out of your rental.
Plan your space and power
Most bounce houses need about a 15×15 ft area plus clearance on all sides, a flat surface (grass is best), and a standard outlet within roughly 100 ft.
We bring extension cords, and generators are available for parks and open fields — just tell us your setup spot and we’ll confirm what fits.
Time it right
Spring and fall weekends book up fast, so reserve early for the best selection.
Plan delivery for well before guests arrive so everything is set up and inspected in advance.
Keep it safe
Assign an adult to monitor the bounce area, keep group sizes age-appropriate, require shoes off, and remove hard or sharp items from pockets.
We anchor and safety-check every unit at setup.
Add to the fun
Pair a bounce house with a water slide for summer heat, an obstacle course for older kids, or interactive games and concessions to round out the entertainment.
Ask us about bundling units for bigger events.
Not sure what your event needs? Call or text (804) 905-9001 and we’ll build the right lineup with you.

Inside the city
Richmond Neighborhoods We Deliver To
Our trucks run into the city itself, not just the counties around it.
We set up regularly in Shockoe Slip, Monroe Ward, Court End and the Financial District, where most events are courtyard parties, office family days and school functions rather than backyard birthdays — spaces that suit our compact bounce house rentals and standalone yard games more than a full obstacle run.
Along the Riverfront District and over in Manchester, where the redevelopment has opened up larger shared lawns and rooftop decks, there is usually room for a combo unit with a slide.
Tell us the address when you book and we will confirm what fits before you pay a deposit.

Access & tight yards
Row-House Yards and Tight Access in The Fan, Church Hill and Jackson Ward
Richmond’s historic residential blocks are our most common delivery challenge, and the fix is always the same: measure before you book.
In The Fan, Church Hill and Jackson Ward, the yard is usually deep rather than wide, and the only way in is a side gate or an alley.
- We need roughly 36 inches of clear gate width to walk equipment through, and about four feet of clearance around the unit once it is inflated.
- If your gate is narrower, we can often set up in the front yard or on a flat driveway instead — a standard 13×13 bounce house fits comfortably in most Fan driveways.
Send us a quick photo of the access path through our contact form and we will tell you what will work before delivery day.
Park parties
Setting Up in Richmond's Parks
Park parties at Chimborazo, Libby Hill, Byrd Park and along the canal walk are popular, and they come with two requirements people usually discover late.
- First, Richmond City Parks and Recreation requires a permit and a certificate of insurance for inflatables on public land — apply at least two weeks out, and name Jump Around VA on the request so we can send our COI directly.
- Second, there is no power at most park sites, and every inflatable needs a blower on a standard outlet within about 100 feet. We carry generators for exactly this, so add one to your order when your setup spot is a field.
Staking rules also vary by park, so let us know if the surface will be grass or pavement — we anchor differently for each.
North & south
North and South of the River
We deliver north into Ginter Park and Bellevue, where the tree-lined lots off MacArthur Avenue give plenty of room for larger setups, and south across the James into Bon Air, where the older resort-era properties tend to have the deepest yards in our whole service area — a good fit for water slides and obstacle courses that need a longer run.
Larger neighborhood events in these areas often add tents, tables and chairs and a concession machine to the order.
If your neighborhood is not named here, ask anyway — we cover Richmond City in full, and if your party is up the corridor toward Stafford County we run that route too, with a separate inventory serving bounce house rentals in Stafford.
